This painting is called "Transmutation," which means a big change. The person you see in the artwork is changing. She is taking off a part of her body that no longer helps her — like an old skin. With a green thread, she is unmaking her clothing or her skin, to show what’s underneath.
And underneath… there are many eyes. Those eyes represent everything she has lived through, everything she has felt, everything she has learned. She carries all those experiences inside her.
In one hand, she’s holding cherries, which can mean sweet things or special moments in life. And her blue hair moves like waves in the wind, like her thoughts are flowing.
With this piece, I want to show that sometimes we need to change, to let go of what no longer feels right, and begin again. Changing can feel scary, but it can also be brave and full of hope.
